“Life taught me an eternal love will demand the worst sacrifices. A transcendent love will split your soul, cleaving you into pieces. A love this strong doesn’t grant you sweetness—it grants you pain. And in that pain is the greatest pleasure of all.”

Q made me the happiest esclave in the world. He gave me his heart, his empire, his ruthless unforgiving love. And life finally left us in peace.

A man like my maître has special needs though, growing stronger as our lives intertwine. The only way to survive his monster is to agree to all his desires.

Including his latest wish.

I’m his.

And I won’t refuse.

Q and Tess are one of my most favorite couples so when I heard about this book I was ecstatic! This is a follow-up story to the Monster in the Dark Series by Pepper Winters.  Q and Tess came a long way by the end of the series and while we were left with Tess and Q’s happily ever after in Twisted Together the author has treated us to a look at how they’re faring.

It wouldn’t be Q and Tess if there wasn’t struggle! There’s nothing easy or normal about their twisted and complicated relationship, so it’s no surprise that now that they’ve settled down they still have some “kinks” they need to work out! (Sorry for the pun!  I couldn’t help it bahahaha).  Anyway, I digress…

It’s clear Q has grown a lot as his relationship with Tess further blossomed.  But now his self perception is in flux and his vision of the kind of future he wants to share with Tess has changed. NOT BAD! Just different 😉  As a result, Q’s feeling uncertain and vulnerable causing him to pull away.  Tess sees Q is hiding something and is determined to get him to confide in her so she can help.  She plans a trip to celebrate Q’s birthday and as the getaway progresses, emotions run high and Q’s reactions to her prodding leaves her hurt and confused.

When Q finally confides in Tess about how he’s feeling and what he wants from her, Tess is shocked.  Q starts to again question their sexual relationship as he believes he’s being punished for it and is the roadblock to their happiness.  But in true Tess fashion, she forces him to see and accept himself, the type of relationship they have and the real and wonderful possibilities for their future.

The author provides a very welcome glimpse into their future and it was a joy to again experience the genuine love and devotion these two will always have for one another.

“I love you with all the shadows in the world for eternity.” ~Q
