No one really knows what they are. Only that they're the first civilization. Aeons, they call themselves. They're immortal. Powerful. Secretive.

And they'll come for her.

Witch Wynter Dellavale knows that for certain. Because in unfairly trying to execute her, they started a chain of events they're struggling to stop. Needing safety, she flees to Devil's Cradle, the home of monsters. A place for the outcasts, the fugitives, the crazies. A place ruled by the Ancients, seven beings who were once banished by the Aeons. Among the Ancients is the infamous Cain, brother of Abel and embodiment of jealousy - who, on another note, wants her in his bed.

There's a heavy price for the safety the Ancients offer, but Wynter will have to pay it. She can't take on the Aeons alone. And she has no intention of dying - been there, done that.

Not that she'll be the easy prey the Aeons are expecting. They have no knowledge of the ... thing that lives inside her. You see, when witches are brought back from the afterlife, they don't always come back the same.

And they don't always come back alone.

Are you a fan of a dark and sexy read with a heavy dose of humor? If so, get ready for Suzanne Wright’s newest paranormal romance, The Wicked in Me!

The heroine Wynter is a strong and independent witch with a dark past. She’s never fit in with her coven, so it doesn’t surprise her when they kick her out. Little do they know that ousting her could lead to the destruction of their community and lands. Suddenly she’s a witch on the run, and she knows that only one place might offer her sanctuary – the Devil’s Cradle.

When Wynter arrives, she meets Cain, a darkly handsome and powerful ancient with secrets of his own. There’s a darkness in him that calls to her own, and Wynter realizes she’s not the only person with a murderous need for revenge. So starts a passionate relationship that is full of heat and mystery.

Let’s not forget the secondary characters (aka Wynter’s crazy crew/coven). They’re a hoot, and though occasionally over the top, they keep the story interesting.

That said, the book is very reminiscent of Suzanne Wright’s characters in her Dark in You series – which I loved btw. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a formula that works, but while the world was different, it felt like the author took her characters from Dark in You, threw them in The Wicked in Me, and gave them new names.

These similarities won’t bother most, but Suzanne Wright’s fans obsessed with Knox, Harper, and her crew might be disappointed with this book’s less colorful versions.

Overall, I enjoyed this book! It was well-written and engaging. If you’re looking for a grin-inducing book with plenty of action, curses, and romance, check The Wicked in Me out.
